Former Daily News Reporter Oscar Nkala has been appointed Southern African chief correspondent for UN-IRIN.

Nkala, now based in Gaberone, Botswana, will be covering Angola, Namibia, Botswana and Zambia.

Before his appointment Nkala was based in South Africa and contributes pieces to publications such as New Zimbabwe.com.

Prior to that he worked for Indosakuso and later joined the Daily News’s Bulawayo Bureau. It was during his time there when he was charged with other journos under AIPPA's Section 80(1)(3), for reporting without accrediation in 2003.
